About Us

Free Speech Hub (FSH) is a journalist-centric, non-profit organization dedicated to supporting Afghan journalists and upholding press freedom and freedom of speech. With deep roots in journalism, our primary mission is to address the critical needs of journalists and media professionals in Afghanistan, both in-country and in exile. We aim to foster unity among Afghan media organizations, building bridges between those operating from Afghanistan and those in exile.

Free Speech Hub champions free expression, including freedom of the press and access to information as a fundamental pillar of democracy. Additionally, the committee works to maintain engagement among existing members, organizes membership events, and addresses any concerns or queries related to membership.

The Monitoring Committee systematically observes and analyzes the Afghan media landscape, compiling reports every three months to provide a comprehensive overview of press freedom. These reports document challenges faced by journalists, aiming to raise awareness and advocate for the preservation of press freedom.

Each year, the Hub's national conference on May 3rd, World Press Freedom Day, brings together journalists, media managers, members of international organizations, friends of the media, and activists for the annual conference held in Toronto or Virginia in the U.S.
